A Trailblazer from the Start

As Gwinnett County, Georgia’s first female firefighter, I forged a path where few women had ventured. In the intense heat of the flames, I learned about courage, resilience, and the power of intuition. Each emergency call was a test of quick thinking, strength, and unwavering faith. But beyond the physical challenges, this experience taught me something profound about the human spirit: we all have the ability to overcome obstacles and rise from the ashes stronger than before.

My time as a firefighter wasn’t just about battling external fires—it was about mastering the inner fires that rage within us all. This period of my life shaped who I am today, instilling in me a tenacity and a deep understanding of what it means to face life’s most daunting challenges head-on.

The Science of the Mind and the Art of Healing

While working in the fire department, I discovered Shakti Gawain’s Creative Visualization and Ernest Holmes’ spiritual philosophy, The Science of Mind. These teachings struck a chord with me, offering a new perspective on life’s challenges and the power of the mind. Over the past 30 years, I’ve delved deep into these principles, exploring how they align with the world’s major religions, particularly Buddhism, which resonates deeply with my belief system.

But my spiritual journey didn’t start there. Raised in a Southern Baptist church, I was taught to fear a wrathful, punishing God. Yet, even as a child, something about this portrayal didn’t sit right with me. I was a curious and adventurous girl, fascinated by the natural world. I climbed trees, scraped my knees, and marveled at how my body healed itself. This was my first encounter with the divine in the form of science—a Creator who designed the body to heal itself surely must be a Loving God.

This childhood curiosity about the relationship between science and spirituality set me on a lifelong journey of exploration, leading me to understand that the universe operates on principles far more loving and expansive than I had been taught.

A Compassionate Guide

For over 15 years, I served as a psychotherapist, helping individuals navigate their own inner landscapes. In this role, I demonstrated compassion, empathy, and a deep respect for confidentiality. I walked alongside my clients as they faced their struggles, offering a safe space for healing and growth. My experience as a therapist taught me the importance of seeing each person as a unique individual, deserving of kindness and understanding.

Prayer has always been my sanctuary—a way of life that has guided me through every trial and triumph. It’s a practice that combines my deep faith with my passion for scientific exploration, creating a powerful tool for transformation.
